"Homage to the Stanley Park Storm"

Pat Lalonde

In December 2006, when I lived on the edge of Stanley Park in Vancouver, there was a storm that destroyed 41 hectares of the iconic forest. Many of the old growth "grandfather" trees came down and the people grieved. We walked through the devastation in tears.

Artists used the downed logs and created enduring pieces of great beauty.

This vessel is my homage to the Stanley Park Storm, using reclaimed stoneware clay and black iron oxides.
