POTTERY TEACHERS WANTED
Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) is seeking experienced pottery teachers to expand our roster of skilled instructors.
We are a new, not for profit community art center located at 167 King St E., Gananoque Ontario.
We have a fully equipped pottery studio with six electric wheels, two computerized electric kilns, a full sized slab roller, an extruder, hand building tables, shelving, tools and glazes.

The GAN Pottery Studio is a place for Fun and Learning. It is NOT a facility for a Private studio, Production or Sales.
The successful applicant will have experience in:

wheel work and/or hand building skills
-
glaze processes, formulation and techniques,
-
firing and kiln maintenance
-
teaching adults and children
-
know and follow the GANARTS Rules and Regulations of a safe pottery studio
Payment and expectations:
Remuneration: In accordance with the GAN rate sheet and in alignment with CARFAC, remuneration as the artist will be provided at $75 per workshop or class hour for a class of 6 wheel students or an agreed number of hand building students.
Prior to the promotion of a class by GAN, the teacher must decide whether to teach on a pro-rata basis. IE: When there are fewer than 6 students in a wheel class, or the agreed number for hand building, the teacher must choose whether they will teach the group on a pro-rata basis and publish that minimum class size in the promotional information.
No payment is made for preparation, set up or clean up time.

Fees will be payable, on submission to the GAN Administrator, of a detailed monthly invoice, within 15 days, directly to ---- via e-transfer to the artist’s bank account information on file.
The artist/teacher is required to:

prepare the space and materials for their learners and leave the space ready for the next group
-
teach the GANARTS Studio Rules and Regulations for proper maintenance of the GAN space

manage firings by loading and inspecting each piece as it goes into the kiln and on unloading

document each firing
-
clean and apply kiln wash to the shelves as needed
-
inform the GAN Administrator about needed supplies before it’s urgent
-
suggest glaze recipes and assist in making glazes
-
empty the clay trap regularly
-
assist in reclaiming clay,
-
use the large wet barrels for washing all tools and equipment.

use large containers to dry all reclaim clay
-
suggest and develop programs to offer at GAN
-
provide GANARTS with a police check
-
Failure to perform these duties will be considered a breach of contract.
Other administrative information:

The artist agrees to promote the Gananoque Arts Network & their specific programming.

GANARTS reserves the right to approve any messaging.

The Gananoque Arts Network retains the right to use programming information and photographs taken during the sessions for any appropriate use (publicity, project report, etc.) The teacher will be credited as the artist who facilitated the session.

If the program is canceled by the Gananoque Arts Network the artist fee will not be paid.

If the artist is unable to facilitate a session, the fee for that session will be forfeited.
You are entitled to artistic control of the sessions in conjunction with the Gananoque Arts Network mission statement.
Gananoque Arts Network Responsibilities:

Advertise & promote workshops and classes.

GAN does not guarantee specific enrollment for any classes or workshops.

Provide a suitable workshop space and equipment.

Provide a student evaluation form on the GAN website.
