Beatrice Eberhard
Textile Artist
Béatrice Eberhard
Béatrice Eberhard grew up in Switzerland and studied fine art ceramics. In 2000 she immigrated to Canada. Life asked her to become many different things, which is reflected in her work.
In her textile work, she used cloth more like she would use paint. The delicate and fragile process of layering small pieces together is important to the meaning of the work. Her work is about the thin line between deep connections and falling apart. She is fascinated with connecting and transforming materials. In her reason work she started to explore and experimenting the possibility of screen-printing on different surfaces.

Brian Donnelly
Visual Artist/Educator
I wandered into design history out of a love of comic book art by way of dada and marxism, and ended up with a PhD and a job as a college professor. Now it’s time to more fully explore the imagery that has always interested me, at the intersection of words and images: conceptual art, pop imagery, appropriated texts, repurposed typography, ostentatious drawing, and crude propaganda.

David Hale
Singer/Songwriter/Artist
After moving to a little slice of heaven just north of Gananoque in 2014 with his wife France and their poodles, retirement provided some time to dabble in music and painting …when the brushes called. Open mic’s enabled a passion for music to surface and learning to play with acrylic paint provided the confidence to develop his stylized landscape perspectives. Check out some local pubs to listen or Facebook and maybe a local gallery to view paintings.
Two grandfathers he never met must be happy; one a music teacher, the other a painter…genes not completely wasted.

Dennis Currie
Visual Artist
Dennis brings years of creative and spiritual exploration to his work. His medium of choice, charcoal on canvas is a recent discovery, but the advancement of his skill is not. Dennis has been drawing since he was a child. He has also endeavored for some time in meditation practice, over the years feels he has made discoveries that he would like to share. Bringing both art and meditation together, the artist expresses themes that are of a contemplative nature, spiritual, sometimes jarring, esoteric occult, and deeply psychological. The artist strives to seek a "universal vision", through meditative and creative means.

Jen Gregory
Visual Artist
I find my senses often overwhelmed by the many influences of light, colour, vibration, reflections, music and sound. My journey into art has been a trial of letting go and making space for the natural flow of creating. Breaking free of preconceptions, judgements and expectations, to find something deeper and more meaningful to me. I’m learning how the process reveals more layers of authenticity. I love to experiment with different wet and dry mediums, as well as ceramics and basketmaking. I also enjoy community in creativity, where creators gather and either co-create and/or support each other in their work.

Jody Pilon
Mixed media/Textile artist
Jody Pilon is a mixed media & textile artist, who uses art to reinforce social responsibilities. She is passionate about protecting the environment and her desire to live lightly is reflected in her arts practice through the careful collection of creative supplies from charity shops, antique markets and yard sales. Using simple tools, simple supplies, and simple techniques Pilon works exclusively with found and natural objects, paper, vintage and discarded textiles and thread, to create textile tiles. During these quiet covid days, Jody has been developing a series based on Carl Jung’s concept of archetypes and how he suggests they form the basis of the human psyche.

Karen Leslie Hall
Artist and Musician
I am a newcomer to Gananoque, having grown up in Ottawa, attended university in Kingston, and worked in Toronto. As a visual artist, I enjoy exploring various media, genres, and
techniques but am currently focused on three bodies of work — still-life “portraits” of pears in acrylic, small landscapes in pastel, and watercolours of trees and wildflowers — all of which celebrate the beauty that surrounds us. I am also a singer-songwriter and guitarist and enjoy arranging music for a cappella choir. You can find my album, “On the Dream Road,” on Spotify and iTunes

Mary Ann Maruska
Visual Artist
After a career as a graphic designer and educator, I’m now expanding into different approaches and media. I make subtle and elaborate beaded jewelry, paint stylized portraits of family and endangered madonnas, design posters for the 1000 Islands History Museum, and can be found sketching en plein air. I’m delighted to see the arts flourishing in Gananoque!

Monique van Someren
Visual Artist
Monique is a graduate of the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts. This resulted in decades of creativity and a tremendous amount of fun and gratification and above all, an abundance of inspiring artworks adorning many a wall in both Europe and North America. It’s Monique’s passion to depict nature’s astonishing beauty, but also the allure of those commonplace everyday objects that are so easily overlooked or taken for granted. With this, she hopes that her artwork will encourage and motivate the viewer to take a moment to be fascinated.

Patricia Lalonde
Handmade Pottery
I create my functional work with cooking and floral arrangements in mind. For example; There's something really special about food cooked in pottery. Pastries cook best in clay! Your cup of... tastes delicious in a vessel that was made by hand. Flowers look great in handcrafted vases. At least, I think so! What about you?
In the spring of 2019 I returned to the area from Vancouver and I couldn't be happier. Getting back to my lifelong passion for clay is the icing on the cake!
You can find me and my work at the Saturday Craft Markets.
You are welcome to reach me at 604-605-3149 or patricialalonde3@gmail.com

Sue Thomas
Visual Artist
Sue Thomas is, at her heart, a visual artist. She has been an illustrator for over 20 years and is a graduate of a three-year fine arts program at St. Lawrence College. She has found particular joy in illustrating animals - from household pets to wildlife, she brings charm and charisma to creatures of all kinds. She has been particularly proud to donate her talents to support Sandy Pines Wildlife as well as the Gananoque Humane Society. Ultimately her love of animals led her to place her illustration on custom t-shirts, among other products, to launch her business Fur Friends which donates a portion of its profits to various animal charities, and to obtain a PETA Business Friend designation.
When she is not illustrating creatures big and small, Sue loves to play with other mediums including acrylic paintings, and carving folk-art style figures of forest spirits such as little elf-like creatures. She has been able to bring fantasy worlds to life with polymer clay figures that bring whimsy and wonder to children and adults alike.
Sue’s current project involves creating larger figures to evoke childhood memories of fairy tales and all the magic we shared as children.
