A fun, community-oriented, open portrait show!

​

Returning for its third year, let’s fill the walls with faces!

 

​The Gananoque Arts Network is excited to announce "Face to Face 3" our annual art exhibition featuring portrait art in a variety of forms. This show invites all artists to explore portraiture through painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, or sculpture. Mounted in the Noel Bullock Gallery in September as part of Ontario Culture Days, this inclusive exhibition highlights the dynamic bond between artist and subject.

The Face to Face 3 portrait exhibition will hang in the Noel Bullock Gallery, 

in the Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) space, 167 King Street.

 

Important Dates: 

DROP OFF WORK: 

Thursday, Sept. 11, 6–8:00

Saturday, Sept. 13, 2–4pm

Sunday, Sept. 14, 2–4pm

​ON VIEW: Tuesday, Sept. 16 to Nov. 21 (or possibly later)  

OPENING: Friday, Sept. 19, 7 – 8:30pm as part of Ontario Culture Days

 

Submission guidelines

A PORTRAIT means, for this show, a rendering of a specific person based on a meeting between the subject and the artist, expressing the likeness or character of that subject. No caricatures or jokes, but it may be a self-portrait. All artwork must be original: painting, drawing, handmade prints, collage, clay, mixed media, or small sculpture, and suitable for display in a community gallery.

 

SPECIFICATIONS  

•  two pieces maximum to have been made in the last ten years by the person entering  

•  sizes from miniature to approx. 24 x 36 in. 

•  no requirement for framing 

$15 per piece donation requested as an entry fee  

• you are encouraged to be a GAN Subscriber by registering on the ganarts.ca website. 

•  must be original: painting, drawing, handmade prints (e.g. etching, screenprint) collage, clay, mixed media, or small sculpture                                       

All entries meeting these guidelines will be accepted (exceptions may apply).

 

When you drop off your work(s) you’ll be asked to fill in an entry form with the work’s title and size, and your agreement with the following: 

The artist agrees that their name, the title(s) of the work(s) and media will be made available on a guide sheet.

• This is not a sales event; no prices will be posted.

• While efforts will be made to keep the work safe, the work will be displayed in a space that at times will be unsupervised.  The GAN is hereby released from liability for damage or loss of the work displayed including digital theft.

• Images of my work may be included in GAN promotional materials, social media, and/or website, unless otherwise stated.​

 

The Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) is a safe and inclusive space, free from prejudice and judgement.  All races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders and sexual orientations are welcome here. Come and express your creativity with us.
