"Springtime"

Karen Leslie Hall - Satellite Exhibit

Watercolour on paper, mounted on panel and sealed with an acrylic medium.

Evoking the pale green leaves and purple flowers of the forest in spring, this piece is from an extensive series of semi-abstract watercolours-depicting trees, wildflowers, or the forest floor — for which Karen developed a technique involving many layers of paint and resistance to the paint (masking tape and fluid) applied in a somewhat random fashion, reflecting the randomness of the subject matter.
