Doug Gifford - Photographs

In 2002, with two young children in tow and a Nikon Coolpix digital camera in hand, I set about collecting 'texture' photos for use as website backgrounds. The intent was they would have no single 'subject' but would provide visual interest without distracting from whatever the website was about. It became a project and I took about 5000 of these photos before the old Coolpix gave out from being dropped too often. Over a hundred of these texture photos are of tree bark. "Bark" is 34 of those textures in random rotation.
