The Pottery Studio is open!

Step 2: Sign up and attend GANARTS Pottery Introduction
This class will open the door to your adventures in clay!!
It will orient you to our studio and how it operates. You will learn about clay, it's properties and idiosyncrasies. You will feel the clay and understand the whys and wherefores of working with it on the wheel and hand building as well as firing in the kiln.
To keep the GAN Pottery Place in good working order,
this class is a prerequisite for access to classes and studio time.
The next classes will be offered:
Mon. Sept. 11 in the evening from 6:00 to 7:30,
Friday afternoons, Sept. 8th and 22nd from 1:30 to 3:00
maximum 12 per class.

Step 3: Register for a class or workshop
COILS OF CLAY:
September 6th and 7th (two sessions)
1:30 - 3:30

Building with coils of clay is a prehistoric method. You can make your creation look rustic or sophisticated or anywhere in between. Come and see where your creativity will take you! Suggested items to bring along; an apron, a cloth, medium and small sponges, a medium plastic container for water, an old toothbrush, an old paring knife, paddles such as an old wooden spoon or flat piece of wood, any kind of texture you'd like to press into the clay AND YOUR IDEAS!
STARTING ON THE WHEEL #1:
Tuesdays, September 12th to October 17th, 6 weeks
Afternoons 1:30 - 3:30
Maximum 6 people, $265/person,

Pat will teach you to get started on the wheel. Your goal is to start with a lovely small bowl and work your way up to bigger bowls. Not as easy as it sounds, but, OH, SO Satisfying!
Suggested items to bring along, an apron, a cloth or towel and patience!
Prepare to have lots of fun!!

PORTRAITS IN CLAY WITH ANNEKE:
September 13th and 14th

Anneke will share with us, her techniques for creating faces in clay. Our goal in this workshop is to create a portrait of a person. Not a caricature or a comic figure.
This project is meant to coincide with the exhibition of "The Kingston Prize" which starts here in Gananoque in October! GAN arts plans to mount an exhibition of local portraits of which yours might be one. Come and be part of this exciting project and learn the skill of sculpting portraits in clay.
Suggested items to bring along; an apron, a cloth, medium and small sponges, a medium plastic container for water, an old toothbrush, an old paring knife, AND photos of a face.
STARTING ON THE WHEEL #2:
Mondays, September 18th to October 23rd, 6 weeks
Evenings 6:30 to 8:30
